The greatest thing in all our lives is to know God and His love for us. We were created to swim in the ocean of God’s love. That is why our hearts yearn to know God more. Instinctively we know that God is love and love is life.
Our yearning for love will be fully satisfied in eternity for all who choose to receive God’s gift of salvation. But, oh what a joy to experience that love now! God lives outside of time yet simultaneously lives in all points of time. That means, God lives in our present moment, and His love surrounds us. This love is accessible to us if our hearts are soft.
A soft heart is good ground for our faith to grow. As with love, faith is a gift from God that flourishes in a willing heart. Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the title deed to all the promises of God. Faith grows as we pursue the Christian life, yet faith can also be polluted by life and time and culture.
Faith in the reality of the Person of God should never be taken for granted, as it is our key to close fellowship with the triune Godhead (God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit). We cannot fellowship with a concept or a feeling. Faith allows us to perceive the reality and personhood of each member of the Godhead. Faith is the assurance of that which cannot be seen yet is more real than anything we do see.
Scripture tells us that faith is a gift from God, but it also tells us that faith comes by hearing the Word of God. Building up our faith is not a passive act. If we want strong faith, then we need to immerse ourselves in the Word and in teaching that is based upon the Word.
On this site, we will be sharing posts on the subject of faith and the nature of God that are based on scripture. See our Build Your Faith page for these postings. We hope they will help you in your quest to renew and strengthen your faith.
